View as Student

Admins can preview the student portal exactly as a specific student sees it. This is useful for troubleshooting issues, verifying course content, or checking a student's progress.

Access required

Choose the task you are doing. Each row is a separate action.

Impersonation follows the portal's learner gates and read-only restrictions. A custom role with View access to students cannot impersonate them.

How to use it

Important details

• Read-only: You cannot submit assessments, change settings, or take any actions on behalf of the student. This is strictly a preview.
• Prerequisites stay visible: If the student still needs to complete an LLND skills check, View as Student shows that same check and course-access requirement. The questions and saved state are visible for troubleshooting, but the controls are disabled so you cannot answer or submit for the learner. A read-only notice above the check says the learner must finish the written check before using the portal. Select Skip in preview in that notice to step past it and see the rest of the portal for this visit. The learner's check is unchanged and learners never see the button. If you then view another learner in the same tab, their check shows again.
• 30-minute session: The impersonation session expires after 30 minutes. Open a new session if you need more time.
• Admin-only: Only users with the Admin role can use this feature. Staff and Trainers do not see the button.
• Audit safe: Impersonation sessions are not tracked as student activity in analytics.
