Managing Locations

Locations represent the physical or virtual venues where training is delivered. They appear in classes, enrolments, and AVETMISS reports, and, if you publish a public website, on that site too. Locations work fully for classroom and virtual delivery without a public website.

Accessing locations

Navigate to Locations in the sidebar. You'll see a table of all locations with name, address, status, and location code.

Adding a location

Click Add Location

Click the Add Location button on the Locations page.

Enter location details

Location NameRequired

A descriptive name for this venue (e.g., "Sydney CBD Campus", "Online Classroom").

URL SlugRequired

The URL-friendly identifier used in your public location page (e.g., sydney-cbd-campus). Auto-generated from the location name. Only lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens are allowed (max 80 characters).

Venue Name

Optional venue or building name (e.g., "Level 3, Tower B").

AVETMISS Location Code

Your training organisation's location identifier for AVETMISS reporting (max 10 characters). Maps to NAT00020.

Address

Start typing to search for an address. The address picker auto-fills street, suburb, state, and postcode from the selected result.

Host employer

Link this location to the employer that owns or provides the site, used for workplace delivery, where training happens at an employer's premises. That employer can then see the training sessions scheduled at this location in its portal. Leave blank for the RTO's own venue.

Save

Click Save to create the location.

Location detail page

Click any location to open its detail page. The page has five tabs:

Details

Shows the location's basic information, name, slug, venue name, address, AVETMISS location code, and status. Click Edit to modify any fields.

Page Builder

Design a custom public page for this location using drag-and-drop widgets. Available widgets include rich text, image galleries, FAQs, maps, and a locked Location Classes widget that lists all classes at this location.

Use Generate with AI to quickly scaffold a location page from presets:

  • Full Location Page: hero, description, map, courses, FAQ, CTA
  • Minimal & Clean: hero, description, CTA
  • Facility Showcase: hero, amenities, gallery, map, CTA

SEO

Configure search engine optimisation for the public location page:

Meta Title

Custom title tag for search engines. Defaults to the location name.

Meta Description

Custom meta description shown in search results.

OG Image

Upload an image for social media link previews.

Noindex

Toggle on to prevent this location from appearing in search engine results and the public location listing.

Classes

View all classes scheduled at this location in a searchable table. Shows class name, course, trainer, dates, and status. Click any row to navigate to the class detail page.

Audit Log

TaskRequired access
Review location audit historyLocations: View and Audit log: View

Audit access is separate from viewing or changing the record. Grant it only to members who need to review change history.

View the change history for this location, including who made each change and when.

Location timezone

Each location has a stored Timezone, initially suggested from its address state. Check it against the venue's physical address. A location filled from the organisation timezone because its address was incomplete asks you to confirm its zone.

When you correct the timezone, the form shows how many upcoming sessions will move. Their entered clock times stay the same in the corrected zone. Past sessions retain their recorded times. Booking hours and future closures follow the correction; a resource clash stops the save so you can resolve it first.

Editing a location

  1. Open the location detail page
  2. Click Edit in the top-right
  3. Update any fields (name, slug, venue name, address, location code)
  4. Click Save

Archiving a location

When a location is no longer in use:

  1. Open the location and click Edit
  2. Click Archive in the bottom-left of the modal
  3. Confirm the action

Archived locations are hidden from dropdowns and public pages but preserved for historical records.

Public location pages

TaskRequired access
Change the location's public page or SEOWebsite: Manage

Public location pages are optional, they only appear if you've published a website. If you do, each location gets a public page at /locations/{slug} on your website. The page displays:

  • Page builder content (if configured)
  • Available classes grouped by course
  • Location address

The /locations listing page shows all active, indexed locations. Locations with Noindex enabled are excluded from this listing and from search engines.

Locations and classes

When creating or editing a class, you select a location. The location determines where training occurs and feeds into AVETMISS reporting. Online and blended classes can optionally have a location assigned (e.g., for synchronous sessions held at a specific venue).
