Quality Indicator surveys: prepare for the announced 2027 change
Consultation closes 23 October. ASQA plans final surveys in December and requires their use from February 2027. Keep the current questionnaires until the approved change.

ASQA's 12 October announcement says final Quality Indicator student and employer surveys and guides will be released in December 2026, with use required from February 2027 for the rest of that calendar year. The final questions and an exact February cutover day are not yet published in the sources checked here.
DEWR's consultation closes at 11:59 pm AEDT on 23 October, which is 10:59 pm in Brisbane. Giving feedback is optional. It is separate from the announced requirement to use the final questionnaires.
Keep the currently prescribed questionnaires while preparing the transition. ASQA's current QI guidance requires their wording to be retained and the previous calendar year's annual summary to be submitted by 30 June. Do not rewrite a live protected Form from a consultation draft.
What RTObase needs to prepare
RTObase has protected learner and employer Forms and an annual-summary preparation flow. It has not imported the forthcoming final surveys or established their scoring, cutover or historical-comparison rules. Existing issued Forms and responses must retain their original question versions.
When final materials arrive, review the wording, scoring and period rules, version the new Forms and preserve prior responses and report evidence. RTObase cannot infer an RTO's reporting exemption, regulator or completion of an external ASQA return from its settings alone.
