BSB80120 closes to new overseas students on 5 October
A new ESOS instrument suspends or cancels BSB80120 on CRICOS. Affected providers need to identify current and prospective overseas students before 5 October 2026.

The Australian Government has specified BSB80120 Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning) for automatic suspension and cancellation on CRICOS.
The legislative instrument commenced on 5 September 2026. The practical cutoff for providers and overseas students is 5 October 2026.
From that date, CRICOS providers cannot:
- issue a new Confirmation of Enrolment for BSB80120;
- enrol a new overseas student in BSB80120; or
- commence an overseas student who has not already commenced BSB80120.
Domestic delivery of BSB80120 is unaffected.
What happens to the CRICOS registration
The outcome depends on whether an overseas student has commenced the course by 5 October 2026.
- If no overseas student has commenced, the course is automatically cancelled from the provider's CRICOS scope at every location.
- If at least one overseas student has commenced, the course is suspended. Those students may continue. The course is automatically cancelled after they complete or withdraw.
- While the instrument remains in force, affected providers cannot register, renew or add BSB80120 on CRICOS.
ASQA's provider notice and the Department of Education's provider fact sheet confirm these effects.
What affected providers should do now
The Department tells providers to identify every affected overseas student and intending student. That includes students who have commenced, students with a CoE who have not commenced, and students whose package includes BSB80120.
Affected providers should:
- notify students in writing and explain their support and options in plain English;
- keep student, enrolment, fee, course-location and progress records current;
- brief education agents so they give accurate information;
- review PRISMS, Tuition Protection Service, placement and refund duties for each affected case; and
- preserve evidence of the notices, decisions, refunds, placements and external-system updates.
The provider fact sheet gives the detailed default and notification periods. Apply those periods to each student's circumstances and seek advice where the outcome is unclear.
What RTObase can check
The Regulatory news assessment checks active CRICOS course mappings tied to the national code BSB80120. If it finds one, it links the administrator to the International workspace for a case review.
That local check has limits. RTObase does not confirm the provider's live CRICOS scope, each student's commencement status, cancelled CoEs, or whether PRISMS, TPS, placement, notification and refund work is complete. It also does not yet block BSB80120 offers, enrolments, commencements or CoE preparation at the cutoff.
Use the official provider fact sheet and the organisation's CRICOS and PRISMS records as the operating source for this change.
